BestFex was born from real-life experience. When I started as a field agent in 2011, final expense required traveling to homes across Ohio, sitting at kitchen tables and filling out applications together. Those kitchen table conversations became great memories, with more than a few folks insisting I stay for lunch!
In 2013, life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with cancer. The challenges that followed meant stepping away from the industry by 2015, leading to a finance role in the car business. Through word of mouth and a simple Facebook page, I became trusted by customers statewide as their go-to for auto financing. Many years later, I'm grateful to be back as an insurance broker, serving families remotely — and healthier than ever.
Off the clock, I'm usually outdoors around Sandusky, Ohio - running, kayaking, Cedar Point, or enjoying good times with family.

“Tom” was a part of my life since I was a toddler, as my Stepdad. An old school blue-collar guy, he loved his family, Cedar Point, and muscle cars. When he passed in 2018, he had a small final expense policy from years earlier that I helped him with — my sister being his beneficiary. We talked recently about her claim experience and Tom’s celebration of life.
She described it as surprisingly simple, and the benefit being paid within a week. Neither of us recalled having any conversations with guests over expenses, just family and friends sharing stories and genuine laughs.
That’s us enjoying our last brewski at Cedar Point Hotel Breakers.
Yes, that’s correct. Sometimes it’s also called funeral insurance. These are all just different ways of describing “simplified issue” whole life insurance. While often marketed to help with funeral costs, ultimately it’s a smaller life insurance policy meant to offer financial relief to your loved ones.
It most certainly can be a gift. Whether the benefit is left to a spouse, grandchild, or a local animal shelter, your beneficiary receives the money without any restrictions attached on how it’s spent.
Each company I’m partnered with has it’s own secure online portal that only appointed agents and brokers can access. During our call, you can expect the application itself to be straightforward and brief. Once submitted, most approval decisions are returned within 24 hours.
Monthly premiums are safely made via bank draft, directly with the insurance company and never through BestFex. This method helps avoid missed payments and keeps your coverage secure.
Annual options listed alongside the monthly rates, if preferred.
